Accessibility

How UCRI is working to keep its website readable, navigable, and usable across devices and assistive technologies.

Accessibility is part of the release process. Feedback is welcome when a page, link, document, or third-party service creates a barrier.

Our commitment

UCRI wants its public information and action paths to be usable by as many people as possible, including people who use keyboards, screen readers, screen magnification, voice input, or reduced-motion settings. The website is designed toward WCAG 2.2 Level AA as an ongoing target, not as a claim that every page or linked service is perfect in every configuration.

Measures built into the website

  • Semantic headings, landmarks, lists, and link text.
  • A keyboard-visible skip link and focus indicators.
  • Responsive layouts that avoid horizontal page overflow.
  • Alternative text for meaningful images and hidden decorative artwork.
  • Color contrast checks for core text, navigation, and donation actions.
  • Reduced-motion behavior for visitors who request it.
  • Automated accessibility checks at mobile and desktop widths before release.

Known limitations

Some linked services, including PayPal, Instagram, Google documents, email applications, and third-party source pages, are outside UCRI's control and may not provide the same accessibility experience. Some older social-media artwork may contain text inside images. UCRI will provide available information in another reasonable format when asked.

Browser and assistive-technology compatibility

The website is intended to work with current versions of major browsers and common assistive technologies. Very old browsers, unusual browser extensions, custom style overrides, or blocked scripts may affect layout or motion. Core page content and contact information should remain available without relying on animation.

Accessibility feedback

If something prevents you from reading information or completing an action, email contact@ucrinitiative.com or call (734) 373-8680. Include the page address, what you were trying to do, the browser or assistive technology involved if you are comfortable sharing it, and the format or accommodation that would help. UCRI will review the request and respond as resources allow.
